Right then, there's just one more thing left to do and that is for Shaheen Afridi to pick up the coveted PSL trophy that he has led Lahore Qalandars to for a third time in the last four seasons. Afridi goes on and celebrates with the squad and with that, another edition of the Pakistan Super League has come to an end. Hope you enjoyed our coverage. Until next time then, take care and goodbye.
Hasan Nawaz is the PLAYER OF THE TOURNAMENT for his sensational batting performances throughout the season.
Kusal Perera is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH IN THE FINAL for his match-winning inning.
The presentation ceremony...
Earlier in the game, Quetta Gladiators won the toss and stuck to their strength by opting to bat first. After an erratic start, they started to come good thanks to Hassan Nawaz and a couple of solid cameos down the order, eventually posting a solid total of 201 runs on the board. For Lahore Qalandars, their skipper Shaheen Afridi was the pick of the bowlers as he got three wickets to his name, with Haris Rauf and Salman Mirza picking up a couple of wickets each.
Quetta Gladiators on the other hand simply didn't have a sixth bowling option which is so important in T20 cricket and while their spinners bowled really well and in tandem as well, the pacers weren't at their best. Mohammad Amir got a wicket but Khurram Shahzad and then Faheem Ashraf conceded too many runs and boundaries at the crucial stages of the contest which cost the Gladiators the game.
Lahore Qalandars never seemed to get out of 3rd gear during the chase but after the early wicket of Fakhar Zaman, they managed to build partnerships. Muhammed Naeem was the aggressor in the middle overs as Abdullah Shafique gave him ample support as well. However, it was Kusal Perera again who made the difference with a sublime 62 not out of 31 deliveries and his knock along with Raza's stellar cameo sealed the win for Lahore.
Scenes of pure joy in one camp, whereas there's heartbreak in the other camp, but what a final this has turned out to be. The Gladiators were so close to winning their first PSL title since 2019 but the man who gave them hope with that late cameo, Faheem Ashraf, has ended up costing them the game with the ball at the death.
LAHORE QALANDARS ARE PSL CHAMPIONS FOR THE 3RD TIME! It was a sensational last-ditch effort and it is Kusal Perera who has turned out to be the match winner for Lahore, who have reclaimed the PSL title, that too in front of their own crowd. This is the highest successful chase in a PSL final as well.
