WTC
The World Test Championship (WTC) is the official ICC Test tournament designed to add context and excitement to international Test cricket. It brings the top-ranked teams into a league structure, leading to a grand final to determine the true World Champion in red-ball cricket. At The Cricket Scores, our WTC tag page provides complete coverage of the championship—including fixtures, live scores, points tables, team performances, and historic records.
History
Test cricket, the oldest and most prestigious form of the game, lacked a formal world title until the WTC was launched in 2019. The International Cricket Council (ICC) created the championship to unify bilateral Test series under a global tournament structure. The WTC now runs in two-year cycles, culminating in a final at a neutral venue.
Tournament Summary
Each WTC cycle features the top nine ICC-ranked teams, with each playing six series (three at home, three away). The league format uses a points system based on match results, and the top two teams qualify for the WTC Final, deciding the world champion.
