India National Cricket Team
The India National Cricket Team represents the spirit and strength of cricket in the subcontinent and is among the most successful teams in international cricket. Governed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the team competes in Test matches, One Day Internationals (ODIs), and T20 Internationals (T20Is) under the recognition of the International Cricket Council (ICC). On this page at The Cricket Scores, you’ll find everything from historical milestones and records to latest squad updates and performance stats.
History
India played its inaugural Test match in 1932 against England at Lord’s. The early years saw limited success, but things turned in the 1970s and 1980s with stars like Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, and Gundappa Vishwanath. India’s World Cup victory in 1983 marked a new era of global cricket dominance. The 2000s saw a golden generation with Dravid, Tendulkar, Sehwag, and Kumble, followed by the MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli eras that brought major ICC trophies and global admiration.
