Earlier, just like Trichy Grand Cholas, SKM Salem Spartans were 58/3 at one stage and were looking for a big partnership. Hari Nishaanth and Sunny Sandhu added 93 in 10 overs to get SKM Salem Spartans to a competitive total. Well, it looked comfortable for most of the game but eventually got a bit tighter than SKM Salem Spartans would have thought.
SKM Salem Spartans will breathe gently now as they were under some serious pressure from R Rajkumar and Jagatheesan Kousik. However, they bowled brilliantly initially, picking four wickets inside the Powerplay and jogged their way to an easy win but were put under jitters by the duo. M Mohammed was the pick of the bowlers as he picked four wickets. The others executed the plans for the first half of the innings but panicked a bit under pressure.
Well, what looked like a one-sided affair as Trichy Grand Cholas lost 4 wickets inside the Powerplay and were 48/6 at one stage, turned out to be one of the most entertaining games of the TNPL so far. Trichy Grand Cholas were in doldrums and half of the crowd declared the result at the halfway mark but Trichy Grand Cholas shifted gears and picked momentum out of nowhere with Jagatheesan Kousik and R Rajkumar in the thick of the action. The duo added 88 runs in 41 balls and looked like they would do the impossible, but once R Rajkumar fell, it became difficult. Jagatheesan Kousik took the game till the last over but M Poiyamozhi with his slower off cutters did the job for his team.
