Earlier in the game, SKM Salem Spartans won the toss and chose to bowl first which was an excellent decision by them as they restricted Siechem Madurai Panthers under 165. It was an overall complete performance by the bowling department. SKM Salem Spartans used 7 different bowling options. For Siechem Madurai Panthers, their top three gave a promising start but ended on a dull note with not many power hitting shots. Atheeq Rahman played the finishing role, but eventually they ended with an under par score.
Siechem Madurai Panthers didn't have much to bowl but they tried their best. Murugan Ashwin and Gurjapneet Singh bowled well in the Powerplay, but once the field restrictions were lifted, Siechem Madurai Panthers found it hard to build any pressure. Siechem Madurai Panthers needed other bowlers to step up but everyone leaked runs in their spell.
SKM Salem Spartans start the TNPL season with a comfortable win. A mature performance from SKM Salem Spartans as they showed great nerves while chasing a competitive total. They lost both the openers inside the Powerplay however, Nidhish Rajagopal and R Kavin joined hands to build things up. They initially got used to the surface and later in the process, hit boundaries in almost every over, eventually building a match winning partnership. Nidhish Rajagopal scored a fine fifty but it was R Kavin's unbeaten 48 that helped SKM Salem Spartans get over the line.
