Athisayaraj Davidson led the charge with three wickets, while Saravana Kumar delivered a crucial blow by removing Shahrukh. K Easwaran was superb with his variations, deceiving the batters with his clever change of pace, and R Rajkumar chipped in with a couple of wickets to round off an impressive all-round bowling display.
Earlier in the game, Trichy Grand Cholas put up a competitive total on the board, thanks to a blistering 18-ball half-century from R Rajkumar. The openers and Sanjay Yadav also played their part with handy contributions. For Lyca Kovai Kings, Jhathavedh Subramanyan stood out with the ball, picking up two crucial wickets, while Ramalingam Rohit, N Kabilan, and P Bhuvaneswaran chipped in with one apiece to keep the scoring in check.
Lyca Kovai Kings got off to a shaky start, losing three wickets in the Powerplay, including their captain Shahrukh Khan. However, Balasubramaniam Sachin and Andre Siddarth brought some stability with a crucial 67-run stand that kept them in the hunt. But just as the required rate began to climb, both batters fell while trying to accelerate, and from there, the innings lost its rhythm. None of the remaining batters could find the momentum needed, and they eventually fell short by 14 runs.
Trichy Grand Cholas are finally off the mark this season! It was a solid all-round effort, but it didn’t come without challenges. They had to navigate some tricky phases with both bat and ball, yet showed great character to pull through.
