So the Chepauk Super Gillies taste their first defeat of the tournament but luckily for them, it has come in Qualifier 1. This means that they have another shot on Friday, in Qualifier 2 and can learn from their mistakes. IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans will be flying high at the moment and know that if they can just put in one more team performance, they can lift their first ever trophy. That's all from Tuesday's action but what's coming on Wednesday? Brushing aside controversy, Ravichandran Ashwin's Dindigul Dragons take on the Trichy Grand Cholas in the Eliminator, at this same venue, Dindigul, which is the former's home ground. No second chance there. The loser is out. The first ball is scheduled to be bowled on 2nd July, 2025, at 7.15 pm IST but our buildup will begin well in advance. ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
The victorious captain of IDREAM TIRUPPUR TAMIZHANS, SAI KISHORE, says that he is very happy. Details that the franchise has been around for 8-9 years, so to feature in the first final, is great. On the batting effort, Kishore says that he felt that 160-170 would be a good score on this wicket and to get 200 was a bonus. On him batting at number 3, Sai says that his batting is coming very good. Adds that he is playing for the team and just expressing himself. On Mathivannan, SK says that the entire team itself is super. Details that in every game, one player or the other puts his hand up. On the tremendous energy on the field, Sai Kishore says that there is no ego in the team. Explains that all the players play as a unit and that is its strength, going further to add that it is destined for greatness. On the mindset for the final, Kishore says that they are not chasing results but instead, results are chasing them. Details that the team has been playing well, so wants to take care of the bodies for the next 4 days and come up with a fresh mindset for the final.
IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans' UTHIRASAMY SASIDEV has been adjudged the PLAYER OF THE MATCH, for his swashbuckling 57 (26) with the bat. On being informed that before this tournament, he had faced a total of 26 balls and in this innings itself, he faced 26 balls, Sasidev is too overawed by the situation and humbly says that he is feeling really happy, as his side won. On his shift of gear after facing the first 12 balls, Uthirasamy says that Tiruppur had lost 2 wickets in the same over, so he and Paul looked to build an innings. Feels that Chepauk were bowling well, so the batters thought that if they could build a partnership they could get to 180. Affirms says that for the past few games, Tiruppur have been looking at every game as a knockout. On the team atmosphere, US calls it super, citing that everyone is are very happy. Details that the players talked about this day (reaching the final) but feels that to feature in the first playoff itself was amazing.
The skipper of Chepauk Super Gillies, BABA APARAJITH, smiles and says that this type of a match does come once in a while in a T20 format. Credits IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans for playing well. Is disappointed that his own side could not perform to its best but doesn't want to overthink it, as to come to this stage, he feels that Chepauk have played really well. Praises Tiruppur saying that they played superbly, in all departments. Remembers that the Tamizhans were around 150 by the 16th-17th over, but took the game away. On the game-changing moment, Aparajith puts it down to the way Tiruppur bowled in the middle overs. Reckons that if the Super Gillies had got one decent partnership, they could have made a fist of the target.
In hindsight, this became a good toss to lose for Sai Kishore. He mentioned at the toss that he was caught in two minds, between wanting to chase and defend and was happy to lose the toss. Chasing has been the trend this season but at this venue, with not much dew, the ball tends to come slowly in the second innings. There were already a few signs in the first innings itself and the Tamizhans made the most of the new ball, hammering 70 in the Powerplay. Then, they lost some momentum in the middle overs but Uthirasamy Sasidev turned it on towards the end, with a blistering 57 (26). Earlier, Amith Sathvik enthralled the crowd with 57 (40).
For the first time since 2021, Chepauk Super Gillies have lost all 10 wickets in an inning. Ouch. After 4 years! That shows how good they have been through the years but it was just not their night. They seemed to get a grip of the chase but completely lost the plot once their skipper departed. He top scored with 30 but just 4 batters managed to reach double figures. Earlier, with the ball, they were inconsistent as well. First, they let Tiruppur race to 70 in the Powerplay but even though they came back in the middle overs, let it slip towards the end. The last 3 overs went for 53 runs which deflated their hopes.
The saying goes that revenge is a dish best served cold. The last time these two teams met, IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans batted first and made 173, only to end up losing with 4 overs and 8 wickets to spare. In Qualifier 1, they batted first again, posted a score in excess of 200 and simply did not give the table toppers a chance. Everyone bowled well but the introduction of Esakkimuthu A made all the difference. Chepauk Super Gillies were going well at 67/1 but Aparajith's wicket just tilted the tables. From 67/1, they collapsed to 123 all out. Esakkimuthu took up 3 wickets and could have had his 4th, had skipper Sai Kishore not dropped a catch on his last ball, who eventually came back to strike next ball. Mathivannan M finished with 3 wickets as well, while the captain helped himself to 2 scalps.
History has been created in Dindigul as IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans reach the final of the TNPL for the very first time! They came into this match on the back of 4 successive wins and even though they were playing against the best team of the tournament, yet to suffer a defeat before this game, it did not make much of a difference. Smiles all around.

OUT! TIMBER! Just like that Sai Kishore does the final rituals as he cleans up TD Lokesh Raj. Slider, coming into the batter sharply. TD Lokesh Raj played his card early as he shuffled to his left, even before Sai released the ball and paid the price for it. The ball sneaks past the batter and rattles the timber. IDREAM TIRUPPUR TAMIZHANS WIN BY 79 RUNS AND REACH THEIR MAIDEN TNPL FINAL!

Not that difficult a chance but Sai Kishore puts it down. Hits the hard length, around off. TD Lokesh Raj looks to loft this over the ring of the fielder on off. TD's bat tilts in his hands at the time of contact with the ball. Sai Kishore runs a few steps to his left and tries to hold on to a mistimed lofted stroke from the batter but the ball strikes his hands and pops out. Single taken.

FOUR! With nothing to lose, TD Lokesh Raj is putting on a show. Maybe a promotion for him in the next game, if required. Good length around off, TD Lokesh Raj punches this off the back foot and gets it away to the left of extra cover for four runs.

FOUR! Thumped down the ground for four. Back of a length around off, TD Lokesh Raj stands still and smashes this past mid off for a boundary to his right. The fielder had no chance to even attempt stopping it from going over the ropes.

Good length around off, M Silambarasan gets it away towards point for a single this time.

FOUR! A good stroke considering it came from a number 10. Short pitched, wide outside off, M Silambarasan hops up on his toes and rolls his wrists over the top and keeps the cut down and away from the reach of the fielder at backward point for four runs.
M Silambarasan is the last man in, replacing Abhishek Tanwar.
