Presentation Time...
IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans will be disappointed not just with their bowling effort but also with their fielding, which left plenty to be desired. If they want to compete with stronger sides, that area definitely needs sharpening. Things might have panned out differently had Sai Kishore opted for the review in the very first over against RS Mokit Hariharan, but that chance went begging. From there on, the bowlers seemed to run out of ideas, and the sloppy fielding only made matters worse. Only Sai Kishore and Ragupathy Silambarasan managed to claim a wicket each in what was otherwise a forgettable performance with the ball.
Earlier in the match, IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans managed to put up a competitive total, largely thanks to a superb 79 off 43 from Tushar Raheja. He held the innings together with some classy strokeplay, while quick-fire contributions from Pradosh Ranjan Paul and Mohamed Ali gave the innings a late boost, helping them cross the 170-run mark. However, they couldn’t quite finish with the flourish they would’ve hoped for. For Chepauk Super Gillies, Abhishek Tanwar and Vijay Shankar were the pick of the bowlers with two wickets apiece, while Prem Kumar and TD Lokesh Raj also chipped in with one each.
Despite the early setback, Chepauk Super Gillies barely broke a sweat in this chase. RS Mokit Hariharan made the most of the reprieve he got and went on a rampage, smashing 46 off just 22 balls to shift the momentum firmly in his team’s favour, even though he narrowly missed out on a fifty. After his departure, it turned into the Aparajith-Shankar show. The duo looked in complete control, mixing aggression with calculated risk, and the bowlers simply had no answers. They stitched together a brilliant 105-run stand, with Baba Aparajith remaining unbeaten on a classy 77 off 48 balls, as CSG wrapped up the chase with four overs to spare.
Now that's a statement win! The four-time champions, Chepauk Super Gillies, have kicked off their campaign in style with a commanding victory over IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans. It was a one-sided affair for the most part - while ITT had the odd moment of brilliance, but they were too scattered to make any real impact. They’ll need to regroup quickly and reassess their game plan moving forward.
