Right then, just one more game remains in the PSL 2025 and it is the summit clash. Lahore Qalandars will be taking on Quetta Gladiators at the Gaddafi Stadium for eternal glory, but only one team can reign supreme. The final will begin on Sunday, May 25 at 2.30 pm GMT and you can join us sooner as well for the build-up. Till then, take care and goodbye!
Salman Mirza is adjudged the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his sensational bowling spell up top in the chase.
The presentation ceremony...
Earlier in the game, Shaheen Afridi opted to bat first and Lahore Qalandars put on a real show. Kusal Perera and Muhammad Naeem starred with their half centuries, but it was the Lankan who really made the difference. His compatriot, Bhanuka Rajapaksa also played a little cameo which took the Qalandars over the 200-run mark. With the ball, it was a struggle for Naseem Shah as he conceded 52 runs but the likes of Imad Wasim and one over from James Neesham brought some parity back for United.
The reigning champions, Islamabad United are knocked out of the PSL and how! It was always going to be a daunting task, chasing 200-plus, but they have been completely decimated by the opposition. The top 3 mustered up 10 runs in total and only Salman Agha and Shadab Khan even managed to cross double figures in the whole batting lineup. In the end, a 95-run defeat and the dreams of retaining the title are crushed.
Lahore Qalandars had the runs on the board and needed a couple of early wickets to really head out in front and that's exactly what they got. Salman Mirza was the chief architect along with Shaheen Afridi and the pair of them had the opposition reeling at 12/3. Rishad Hossain then ripped through the United's middle order, picking up two vital wickets and three in total. Mirza and Afridi also got three wickets each and it was the skipper who closed things out for his side.
There it is! Lahore Qalandars have done it and they are in the finals once again. Shaheen Afridi has led from the front and in what was one of the bowling performances of the tournament, the Lahore skipper and his troops march into the PSL 2025 Grand Finale.
