That is all from this game. In two games today, both the chasing teams won pretty comfortably. Let's hope we get more closely fought contests on Sunday, 15th June as we have two games lined up for you. At 3.15 pm IST (9.45 am GMT), Trichy Grand Cholas will take on IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans and later at 7.15 pm IST (1.45 pm GMT), Nellai Royal Kings will face Salem Spartans. As always, our build-up starts early on for both games. Until then, take care and goodbye!
No prize for guessing the PLAYER OF THE MATCH, Shivam Singh takes the award home for his unbeaten 86 off just 41 balls. Shivam Singh shares that it feels amazing to contribute to the team's cause and credits it all to God's grace. He mentions that he backs his skills and trusts the preparation he has put in. Reflecting on his partnership, he says that he and Ashwin have been playing together for a while and understand each other’s game well. He also adds that he has been practising sweeps and reverse sweeps regularly on Ashwin’s advice.
Ravichandran Ashwin played his part too. He put Siechem Madurai Panthers under pressure with his regular boundaries but unfortunately fell one shy of his fifty. Overall, Dindigul Dragons didn't even allow Siechem Madurai Panthers to sniff even once for a comeback. However, both teams will look to rectify their mistakes on the field. In both innings, we saw dropped catches and misfields. Dindigul Dragons went away as they had the game in control but Siechem Madurai Panthers had to pay the price as they were short of runs.
It was a tale of two halves - in the first innings, Siechem Madurai Panthers' players struggled to get going. They succumbed under pressure against quality bowling from Ashwin's men. In the first innings, the ball was holding and gripping with spinners executing the plans perfectly. However, in the second innings, it felt like someone changed the pitch as it turned out to be a belter to bat on. Ashwin was the aggressor initially but slowed down for his partner in crime, Shivam Singh, to take on the bowlers. He went berserk, scoring for fun and in no time scored fifty.
A thumping win for Dindigul Dragons and they are back to winning ways. That innings from Shivam Singh was one of the best we have seen in this season's TNPL. Seriously, such domination from one man and he single-handedly has made a mockery of this run chase. With this win, Dindigul Dragons jump to third place while Siechem Madurai Panthers drop to the sixth spot with just one win from three games.
