Earlier in the game, Chepauk Super Gillies put up a competitive total on the board, anchored by a classy half-century from skipper Baba Aparajith. He was well supported by brisk cameos from Vijay Shankar, N N Sunil Krishna, and Dinesh Raj S, who kept the momentum going through the middle and final overs. Dindigul Dragons had their moments with the ball - Varun Chakaravarthy was once again the standout, claiming three wickets, while Ravichandran Ashwin, Sandeep Warrier, and DT Chandrasekar picked up one apiece. The duo kept the scoreboard ticking and found boundaries at regular intervals, keeping the required rate well under control. Both went on to register their fifties and stitched together a century stand, putting the Dragons in a commanding position. However, the game flipped dramatically once Ashwin was dismissed. From 163/3, they suffered a stunning collapse to 163/7, and in the end, fell short by just 8 runs.
