Shreyas Iyer On Fire! India A Captain Smashes 110 Off 83 Balls Against Australia A in 1st Unofficial ODI

India A skipper Shreyas Iyer produced a sensational knock in the first unofficial ODI against Australia A at Green Park Stadium, Kanpur, scoring 110 runs from just 83 deliveries.

A Captain’s Knock

Batting at No. 3, Iyer reached his century in only 75 balls, showcasing his trademark stroke play with 12 fours and 4 sixes. His fluent innings anchored India A’s innings after the strong opening stand between debutant Priyansh Arya (101 off 84 balls) and Prabhsimran Singh (56 off 53 balls), who added 135 runs for the first wicket.

Partnerships That Powered India A

  • 2nd wicket: Iyer added 40 runs with Arya, who struck a century on debut.
  • 3rd wicket: He then shared a 132-run stand with Riyan Parag, who hammered 5 fours and 5 sixes in his quickfire 65 off 42 balls.
  • 4th wicket: Iyer and Ayush Badoni combined for 73 runs, with Badoni blasting 50 off just 27 deliveries.

Thanks to Iyer’s leadership knock and support from the middle order, India A piled up a massive 413/6 in 50 overs.

What’s Next for Shreyas Iyer?

Iyer last played for Team India in March 2025, contributing significantly to India’s Champions Trophy triumph. With India set to tour Australia later this month for three ODIs and five T20Is, the selectors are expected to bring him back into the senior side, at least for the ODIs in Perth (Oct 19), Adelaide (Oct 23), and Sydney (Oct 25).

His chances for the T20I squad remain uncertain, but with Hardik Pandya’s availability in doubt, Iyer could well find himself back in India’s middle order.
