Rohit Sharma, one of India’s finest openers and biggest power-hitters, holds the record for the most sixes in international cricket. With 637 sixes to his name, he is well ahead of Chris Gayle, who sits second with 553. Alongside the sixes, Rohit boasts an impressive ODI strike rate of 93 and an explosive 140 in T20Is.
The Question That Got a Wild Reaction
At a recent event, Rohit was asked which bowler he enjoys hitting sixes against the most. The 38-year-old’s playful reply drew instant cheers from the crowd.
“Sabhi log hain yaar (I like hitting sixes against every bowler),” Rohit said, sparking loud applause.
He explained further:
“Whenever I bat, I think about how I can attack the bowler in front of me. There isn’t just one bowler I target. My mindset is always to put pressure on whoever is bowling.”
Rohit on His Approach
Rohit added that his batting philosophy has always been about asserting dominance, regardless of who is bowling.
“I can’t single out any bowler. My thinking is simple — whoever I face, I have to perform against them and put them under pressure. I have my own ways of doing that,” he said at the event, organised by Oral-B.
What’s Next for Rohit?
Rohit last featured for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025, where he scored 418 runs in 15 matches, including 22 sixes. During the season, he also announced his retirement from Test cricket, leaving ODIs as his only international format.
India’s next ODI series is in Australia this October, starting on the 19th. Before that, Rohit could also feature in India A practice games as he prepares for the tour.
With Shubman Gill now leading the Test side, speculation continues about Rohit’s long-term ODI future ahead of the 2027 World Cup. But for now, the “Hitman” remains as entertaining as ever — both with the bat and with his words.
