Ravindra Jadeja continued his outstanding run in the ongoing second Test at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati. The Indian all-rounder bowled a long, disciplined spell of 28.3 overs in South Africa’s second innings and returned with figures of 4 for 62.
His first breakthrough came early on Day 4 when Ryan Rickelton edged one to Mohammed Siraj. Aiden Markram became Jadeja’s next victim after being bowled by a classic arm ball. Later in the day, Jadeja trapped Tony de Zorzi lbw for 49 before knocking over Tristan Stubbs, who top-scored with 94.
The dismissal of Stubbs placed Jadeja alongside Ravichandran Ashwin for the most wickets by an Indian in home Tests against South Africa, a major milestone in his Test career.
Jadeja Matches Ashwin’s Home Record
Ravichandran Ashwin had claimed 46 wickets in seven home Tests (13 innings) against South Africa. Jadeja has now equalled that tally, achieving the same number in nine Tests (17 innings). Given his current form, Jadeja looks well positioned to take sole ownership of the record soon.
