Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi celebrated the Pakistan Shaheens’ emphatic eight-wicket win over India A in the Rising Stars Asia Cup in Doha, calling it a proud moment for the nation amid ongoing political tensions between the two countries.
Pakistan Break Long Wait for a Win Against India
The victory came on Sunday, November 16, as the Shaheens ended their long drought against India across all formats. The senior Indian team had beaten Pakistan three times in the Asia Cup just two months earlier, making this win even more significant.
Naqvi expressed immense pride in the young squad for displaying fearless, dominant cricket against a strong Indian lineup.
“What a proud moment for Pakistan and for the Board today! Our Pakistan Shaheens defeated India A by 8 wickets, chasing down the target in 13.2 overs. A dominant, fearless, and unforgettable performance,” Naqvi wrote on X.
India A Collapse After Strong Start
India A appeared in control at 91/3 after 10 overs, but a dramatic batting collapse saw them bundled out for 136. Pakistan Shaheens’ bowlers triggered the turnaround with disciplined, aggressive spells.
In reply, the Shaheens made light work of the chase, hunting down 137 with 40 balls to spare, securing their second consecutive win of the tournament. India, meanwhile, suffered their first defeat after a commanding opening win against the UAE.
Maaz Sadaqat Stands Out
Opener Maaz Sadaqat was the star of the match, smashing an unbeaten 79 off 47 balls while also claiming two wickets with his left-arm spin — a superb all-round contribution that sealed the statement win for Pakistan.
