Karun Nair Answers Selectors with a Commanding 174

Karun Nair made a powerful statement after being dropped from India’s Test squad, scoring an unbeaten 174 to lead Karnataka to 371 against Goa on Day 2 of their Ranji Trophy Elite Group B clash on Sunday.

The 32-year-old, who had endured a lean patch in England, reminded everyone of his class with his 25th first-class century. Resuming on 222/5 overnight, Karnataka relied on Nair’s calm yet fluent knock to build a strong total. His 267-ball innings was a mix of patience, precision, and timely aggression.

He received good lower-order support from Vysakh Vijayakumar (31), which pushed Karnataka past the 350-run mark. For Goa, Arjun Tendulkar and Vasuki Koushik were the pick of the bowlers, taking three wickets each. Goa reached 28/1 before rain ended the day’s play, leaving them 343 runs behind.
