BCCI’s Big Decision On Hardik Pandya Leaves Ex-India Star Stunned: “Kya Kaaran…”

Former India all-rounder Madan Lal has expressed shock over the BCCI’s decision to remove Hardik Pandya from the vice-captaincy ahead of the Asia Cup 2025.

Sharing his views with ANI, Lal said he fully supports Shubman Gill being promoted as vice-captain but questioned Pandya’s sudden removal.

“I agree with the selectors on Gill. He is performing well and can play all three formats in the future. But why Hardik Pandya has been removed, I don’t know. Kya Kaaran hai usko hataya gaya hai,” Lal remarked.

Jaiswal’s Omission Raises Eyebrows

Lal also voiced surprise over the exclusion of Yashasvi Jaiswal from the squad.

“Sometimes you feel surprised that a player like Jaiswal is not in the team. He plays attacking cricket and even performs well in Tests. Maybe they have given him rest or are planning something else,” he added.

Kaif Backs Gill, Questions Samson’s Spot

Meanwhile, former cricketer Mohammed Kaif welcomed Gill’s return to the T20I setup as vice-captain but warned that it could affect Sanju Samson’s chances in the playing XI.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Kaif explained, “I think Sanju Samson’s place in the XI is tough. Gill will open with Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma will play at number three, and Suryakumar Yadav at four. If Samson cannot break into the top four, it will be difficult for him.”

Gill’s Promotion Sparks Major Talking Point

Gill’s elevation comes after more than a year of focus on ODIs and Test cricket. His appointment as vice-captain guarantees him a spot in all matches, which may force reshuffling in India’s already packed top order.
