Cricket fans were left disappointed when the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2025 went without live broadcast, sparking widespread backlash on social media. The tournament, being held at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, marks the start of India’s domestic season after the Test series against England.
With international cricket on hold until the Asia Cup on September 10, supporters were eager to follow the domestic action. But the absence of telecast for the early knockout matches—including North vs East and Central vs North East—left many frustrated.
BCCI Breaks Silence
Addressing the criticism, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia clarified that the board remains committed to promoting domestic cricket. Speaking to The Times of India, he confirmed that the final, scheduled from September 11 to 15, will be broadcast live.
“There will be a live telecast of the final of the Duleep Trophy. We have an agreement with our broadcaster to ensure live telecast of 100 days of domestic cricket. The BCCI gives utmost importance to domestic cricket, which is why you will see almost all India players participating in these matches,” Saikia explained.
Tournament Progress So Far
On the field, the tournament has already delivered standout performances. Yash Dhull and Ankit Kumar powered North Zone into the semifinals with brilliant centuries, while a memorable debut by Danish Malewar, supported by Rajat Patidar and Yash Rathod, helped Central Zone advance.
The semifinals kick off on September 4 at the CEG Ground, where North will meet South Zone, and Central will clash with West Zone.
