Corbin Bosch Receives Demerit Point for Ben Dwarshuis Send-Off in 2nd T20I

South Africa allrounder Corbin Bosch has been handed one demerit point for his send-off to Australia’s Ben Dwarshuis during the second T20I on Tuesday.

In the 17th over of Australia’s chase, Bosch bowled Dwarshuis and then pointed towards the dugout as the batter walked off. The gesture drew the attention of the match officials, and Bosch admitted the offence, accepting the sanction. It was the first offence of his international career, which now spans 11 matches.

ICC Code of Conduct Breach

Bosch’s actions breached Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for players and support personnel, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures that disparage or could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon dismissal.”

Strong On-Field Performance

Despite the sanction, Bosch played a key role in South Africa’s 53-run win that levelled the three-match series. He finished with figures of 3 for 20 from three overs.

After a batting collapse in the first T20I, Dewald Brevis led the charge with a sensational unbeaten 125 off 56 balls, guiding South Africa to 218 for 7. Bosch and Kwena Maphaka then picked up three wickets each as Australia were bowled out for 165.

Series Decider Ahead

The final T20I will be played in Cairns on Saturday, followed by a three-match ODI series between the two sides.
