Bad News for India: Arundhati Reddy Injured and Wheelchaired Off in Women’s World Cup 2025 Warm-Up Match

India has received a major blow ahead of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, with Arundhati Reddy suffering an injury during the warm-up match against England in Bengaluru. The fast bowler was wheelchaired off the field after landing awkwardly on her left leg while attempting to take a return catch from Heather Knight in the 13th over.

Injury Setback for India

The incident occurred at the BCCI Centre of Excellence 1 ground, where Reddy had earlier dismissed England opener Amy Jones. During her follow-through, she tried to intercept a powerful drive from Heather Knight but fell to the ground after landing poorly on her left leg. Jemimah Rodrigues came on to complete the over after the injury.

Doctors quickly arrived at the scene to assist Reddy, and she was then assisted off the field using a wheelchair.

Potential Replacement for Reddy

India will be hoping that Reddy’s injury is not serious, as she is a key member of the pace attack. If she is ruled out of the World Cup, the team may turn to Sayali Satghare, who is currently on the reserve list, to replace her.

Earlier, India had to replace Yastika Bhatia with Uma Chetry after the wicketkeeper-batter sustained a left knee injury during the preparatory camp in Visakhapatnam.

Ongoing Injury Concerns for India

India’s preparations for the tournament have been marred by injury concerns. Renuka Singh Thakur, who was sidelined after the WPL 2025 due to a stress injury, has recovered in time for the World Cup, playing in two matches during India’s 2-1 series loss to Australia. Meanwhile, Amanjot Kaur, who was dealing with a flare-up of a previous back injury, had been training at the CoE to ensure she was fully fit for the tournament.
