Sri Lanka Name 17-Member Squad for BAN T20I Series; SRH Pacer Eshan Malinga to Make Debut

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced a 17-member squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, set to begin on July 10, 2025. The major highlight of the announcement is the inclusion of Eshan Malinga, the young pacer who impressed while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2025. The right-arm quick is all set to make his international T20 debut for Sri Lanka.

Also returning to the T20I fold are Dasun Shanaka, Chamika Karunaratne, and Dunith Wellalage, adding depth and experience to the squad.

  • 2nd T20I – July 13, Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium
  • 3rd T20I – July 16, R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo

Key Comebacks Strengthen Sri Lanka’s Squad

  • Dasun Shanaka, who last featured in a T20I in July 2024 against India, returns after a strong season with Dubai Capitals in the ILT20 2025.
  • Chamika Karunaratne, last seen in T20Is in April 2023, earns his place after consistent performances in domestic cricket.
  • Dunith Wellalage also returns, having last played in November 2024.

The trio’s comeback adds much-needed experience and balance to the Lankan lineup.

Sri Lanka’s Head-to-Head Advantage
